Satabdi clears air, says won’t leave TMC

- ARITRA SINGHA

In less than 12 hours actorturned-politician Satabdi Roy ended suspense and said that she would stay in the ruling Trinamool Congress. After an hour-long meeting with Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh, the TMC Birbhum MP said that she would remain with the party.

“I spoke about my problems with Abhishek; he had assured me of all help. So, I am not going to Delhi tomorrow but will continue with TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee,” mentioned the Birbhum parliamentarian. Talking to FPJ, Satabdi urged all other ‘miffed’ leaders of TMC to fight the polls together and to get their doubts cleared post assembly polls. “There are internal problems but everything will be cleared post polls. But now, all TMC leaders and cadres should unite and behave like one big family,” claimed Satabdi.

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh who had visited the actor's house earlier on Saturday said he was ‘extremely happy’ with the decision of the Birbhum MP Satabdi Roy. Earlier, Satabdi had expressed her desire to visit Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Saturday giving a clear hint of defecting to the saffron camp. Sisir slams Kunal for comment on Adhikari family

A day after being removed from the district president post of TMC, Sisir Adhikari slammed TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh for abusing his son and recently defected leader Suvendu Adhikari. “Everyone has the right to decide about which political party one wants to join. In a democratic country, nobody can force anyone or confine anyone. Suvendu chose to defect and it was his call. He didn’t say or force anyone else to defect to the BJP. But Kunal Ghosh calling Suvendu ‘bhaipo’ (nephew) and criticising him won’t be tolerated. Suvendu is a politician but above everything he is my son, family is family,” mentioned Sisir.

Left-Cong rallies in Kolkata In two different protest rallies by the Congress and the Left Front, the Esplanade area of central Kolkata turned into a battlefield of sorts with police lathi charging on both the rallies. While the Congress took out the rally protesting against the farm bills, the Left Front protested against the hike in electricity bills.

Demanding immediate repealing of the farm bill, West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the protesting farmers are dying every day and the BJP led central government is doing nothing for the farmers.

“Even the SC has given a stay at the devilish farm bills. We from our side will submit a deputation to the governor Jagdeep Dhankhar seeking immediate repealing of the bills,” mentioned Chowdhury.

On the other hand several Left Front supporters were injured as they were protesting in front of the CESC building over the price hike on electric consumption.
