AWANTIPORA (J&K): Five terror associates have been arrested on Saturday in a case regarding pasting of threat posters in Seer and Batagund villages of Tral, said Jammu and Kashmir Police.

"On Januar y 13, 2021, some threat posters of the terror outfit were found pasted in Seer and Batagund villages of Tral area. Upon the said incident case FIR No. 04/2021 under relevant sections of Unlawful Activities Act stands lodged in Police Station Tral," read the release by the police During the course of the investigat­ion, the investigat­ing team raided multiple places and rounded up several suspects.

BANDA (UP): The condition of a 5-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, deteriorat­ed af ter which she was rushed to a hospital in Kanpur for better treatment, police said on Saturday. Chief Medical Officer Uday Bhan Singh said the girl was sent to Kanpur for better treatment and undergoing plastic surger y as she was profusely bleeding. The incident took place on Friday night in the village under Gir wa police station area, they said. A 23-year-old man has been arrested in this connection, Circle Officer (CO) Nareni Siyaram said.

JALAUN (UP): The police here have registered a fresh FIR against ex-BJP functionar y Ram Bihari Rathore af ter a minor boy filed a complaint alleging that the man was sexually assaulting him since 2014, an officer said on Saturday. This is the third case against Rathore, who was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sexually assaulting two children, Superinten­dent of Police (SP) Yeshveer Singh said. A minor boy lodged a complaint alleging that he was being sexually assaulted by Rathore since 2014. On the basis of the complaint, another FIR was lodged against Rathore on Friday evening, he said.

GUWAHATI: Former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was admitted to a private hospital here following chest pain but his condition was 'stable', a hospital spokespers­on said on Saturday. The 68-year old former student leader, who steered the six-year old Assam agitation against illegal migrants, was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital on Friday night af ter he complained of chest pain and mild respirator y problem, the spokespers­on said.
