Two killed in separate road accidents in Thane

Two people were killed in two separate road accidents in Thane on Monday.

In the first incident, a 55year-old man was killed after being hit by an ubknown vehicle.

"Abdul Shaikh, 55, was hit by an unknown vehicle while he was travelling on his twowheeler with his wife. They were going towards Thane from Reti Bunder area of Mumbra. Shaikh fell off the bike after being hit by the vehicle. He sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to the Kalwa hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival," said police official from Mumbra.

In the second accident at Narpoli area of Bhiwandi, an unknown pedestrian was crushed to death after being hit by a speeding truck.

"The deceased was between 35 years to 40 years of age, who was hit by a speeding truck when he was walking beside the road near Shivdaya Hotel in Anjurphata, Bhiwandi. The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident," said a police official from Bhiwandi.

Cases have been registered against the respective police stations in both the cases. Further investigat­ion is on.
