Karim Lala's kin arrested; drugs, firearm seized

In what is seen as a massive crackdown against street peddling of drugs, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday arrested Parvez Khan alias Chinku Pathan, relative of mafia don Karim Lala, in a drug case.

The NCB had detained another accomplice who was being questioned. The agency has recovered huge cash and contraband from the possession of the accused and his associates after a series of searches was conducted post the arrest of Pathan.

At the time of going to press, the NCB was conducting searches in this regard.

“We arrested Pathan and subsequent searches have led to recovery of a lot of cash and Mephedrone (popularly known as MD),” said a senior NCB officer. “Pathan has been externed from city limits and was operating out of Navi Mumbai. During the searches in Dongri and Navi Mumbai, we have also found a firearm,” the officer said while terming him a major drug-lord of South Mumbai.
