NCB seizes ` 2.18 cr cash, 2 firearms from drug factory
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 2.18 crore, two firearms and busted a drug factory during the searches conducted after the arrest of Parvez Khan alias Chinku Pathan, relative of mafia don Karim Lala in a drug case.
Two more persons have been arrested in the case, taking the total number of the arrests to three in the case. Sameer Wankhede, zonal director, NCB who led the operation confirmed the arrests. Pathan, who has been externed out of city limits, was arrested on Wednesday on the basis of a specific information received by NCB.
Pathan’s associate Zakir Hussain Fazal Huk Shaikh was also arrested in the case in which NCB has seized 2.9 gram of heroin and 52.2 gm of mephedrone, popularly known as MD and is specified as commercial quantity from his residence in Ghansoli at Navi Mumbai. One 9 mm blank pistol was also recovered from his residence.
One Rahul Kumar Verma, a DJ and Rapper by profession, was also intercepted from Bhiwandi. He is suspected to be one of the suppliers of MD to Pathan.
NCB stated that they have launched investigations into the funding of these drugs as alleged underworld links have emerged. "We are probing underworld links in this regard as Lala had mentored Dawood Ibrahim. Investigations have also revealed that one of the arrested accused Bhujwala has Dubai links," a senior NCB officer has said.
