RAGINI GETS BAIL IN DRUG CASE

- –Our Bureau

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to Kannada film actress Ragini Dwivedi in custody since last September 4 along with others in a drugs racket case.

A bench of Justices RF Nariman, Navin Sinha and KM Joseph set aside the November 3 order of the Karnataka HC, refusing bail to Dwivedi and others in the case registered under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. It had heard the case at length on Wednesday but pronounced the order on Thursday, noting that Ragini is entitled to get the bail since the maximum punishment for her crime is only one year's jail.
