Alert cop rescues depressed youth

An alert beat marshal attached with the Vashi police with the help of fishermen saved a 20-year-old youth who jumped off the Vashi bridge on Tuesday night. The youth had a minor quarrel with his girlfriend. The girlfriend was crying after the youth jumped off the bridge. They were later handed over to their family after counseling.Police said that around 22.30 pm on Tuesday, the police control room received a call that the youth jumped off the Vashi bridge. The control room alerted the beat marshal in Vashi who reached there without wasting time.

Sanjay Dhumal, senior police inspector of Vashi police station said that the beat marshal called Mahesh Sutar, a local fisherman who reached the spot with his friends. There, a 21-year-old girl identified as Gayatri Dhanraj Chauhan, a resident of Mumbai was crying there. She informed the beat marshal that his boyfriend identified as Ravi Pappu Reddi, a resident of Ganesh Chawl in Mankhurd jumped off the bridge after their minor argument.
