OSIRIS-REx spacecraft to depart asteroid Bennu on May 10

WASHINGTON: NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraf t will say farewell to asteroid Bennu and begin its journey back to Earth on May 10, the US space agency has said. During its October 20, 2020, sample collection event, the OSIRIS-REx spacecraf t, short for Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security, Regolith Explorer, collected a substantial amount of material from Bennu’s sur face, likely exceeding the mission's requirement of 60 grams. The spacecraf t is scheduled to deliver the sample to Earth on September 24, 2023. –IANS
