Nehru rejects Chou's plea for officials' meet

NEW DELHI, JAN 9: Prime Minister Nehru has summarily turned down the latest suggestion of the Chinese Premier Chou En-lai that officials of the two sides should meet immediately to discuss withdrawal arrangements for the disengagement of the armed forces of the two sides.
Shri Nehru clearly exposed Peking's new tactics, declaring that it is worse than their earlier three-point proposal "inasmuch as it seeks to exclude the Indian armed forces from the entire area of Indian territor y subjected to Chinese aggression since September 8, 1962, that is from Indian territor y of over 20,000 Square kilometres in the NEFA sector and 6,000 Square kilometres in Ladakh."...
