Bad to verse: B JP, TM Cs par over national anthem

-

As polling day draws closer in West Bengal, the fight between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party is heating up further, with both parties vying to show their commitment to the people of the state and the country.

Abhishek Banerjee, TMC MP and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed on social media on Sunday, that the BJP was insulting the country by singing the ‘incorrect’ national anthem at the rally in Dumurjala.

“Those preaching about Patriotism & Nationalism can’t even sing our National Anthem correctly. This is the party which claims to uphold India’s honour and pride! SHAMEFUL! Will @narendramodi @AmitShah @BJP4India apologise for this “Anti-National” Act? #BJPInsultsNationalAnthem,” he tweeted and also uploaded a video to corroborate his case.

Incidentally, the last line of the anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mangala Dayaka Jaya Hey’, the BJP leaders were heard singing ‘Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka Jaya Hey’, the opening line of our national anthem.

Rubbishing the claim, BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya claimed that the leaders and ministers of BJP could not have made such a mistake.

Incidentally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who had to cancel his two-day West Bengal trip in the wake of an explosion outside the Israel embassy in Delhi on Friday, had made a virtual address to this rally.

He said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was

only worried about making her nephew the next CM of West Bengal.

Amidst chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ from the rally in Dumurjala, Shah claimed that if voted to power, the BJP, at its first cabinet meeting, would implement the Prime Minister's ‘Ayushman Bharat’ health scheme, that held out more benefits compared to Mamata Banerjee’s ‘Swasthya Saathi’.

“The people of West Bengal are clearly seeking change, as antiTMC slogans are now heard everywhere in the state because of the poor governance of the ruling Trinamool Congress. By the time the election comes, Mamata Banerjee will be all alone. Only the BJP can only bring in proper change,” Shah insisted.

Slamming the CM for not supporting the farmers in the state, Shah claimed that she had just submitted the names of farmers for implementing the Centre’s Kisan Samman Niddhi, and not their bank details.

There are farmers' protests all over the countr y over the BJP- led Central Government’s contentious three farm laws. Countering Shah's claims, TMC Minister Chandrima Bhattachar ya said the BJP was extremely worried, seeing the popular works accomplished by the Trinamool Congress government.

TMC leaders who had recently defected to the BJP were also present at the rally, along with Union Minister Smriti Irani.
