1 dead, 6 injured as godown slab collapses in Bhiwandi
A godown located at Harihar compound in Bhiwandi collapsed on Monday morning. Around seven people were feared trap under the pile of rubble, of which one person was killed and six others were injured in the incident. All the trapped victims were successfully rescued, informed a fire official.
A total of seven people were rescued safely and admitted to a nearby hospital in Bhiwandi. Among these seven, a security guard was reported dead after the rescue operation.
"The incident was reported at around 10:30 am, on Monday. The whole slab of the first floor of the godown of Shadowfax Private Limited, which provides online goods delivery, collapsed. The incident led to the trapping of the workers who were present at the ground floor of the structure," said an official from Bhiwandi fire station.
"The last victim was rescued at around 4:30 pm, thereafter the rescue operation was called off by the rescue teams from different agencies, including fire officials from Thane, Bhiwandi, TDRF and NDRF," added the official.
