FARMERS’ TWITTER ACCOUNTS BLOCKED

NEW DELHI: Twitter on Monday suspended in India its social media accounts of Kisan Ekta Morcha (KEM) spearheadi­ng the agitating farmer unions on Delhi's borders as also several account of the farmer leaders on the government's request. Union Ministr y of Electronic­s and Informatio­n Technology directed Twitter to block around 250 tweets and twitter accounts that were using the hashtaag #ModiPlanni­ngFarmerGe­nocide and allegedly making fake, intimidato­r y and provocativ­e tweets since Saturday,

The Home Ministry also on Monday extended temporary suspension of the Internet and Mobile services at three Delhi borders of Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur till Tuesday night up to 11 PM. It also ordered Delhi Police to completely cordon off the roads from UP to prevent entry of the agitating farmers.
