CONDEMING THE ACT, says Bangladesh
Bangladesh on Monday condemned the military coup in Myanmar, where prominent civilian leaders were detained.An official statement issued by the Ministr y of Foreign Affairs stated, “Bangladesh firmly adheres to and promotes democratic ethos. We hope that the democratic process and constitutional arrangements will be upheld in Myanmar. As an immediate and friendly neighbour, we would like to see peace and stability in Myanmar.” Earlier, the Myanmar militar y declared a state of emergency in the countr y for one year, following the coup, where Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint and other senior officials have been detained by the militar y. Japan expresses ‘serious concern’ about Myanmar Naypyitaw (Myanmar), Feb 1 (AP) Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi expressed “serious concern” about developments in Myanmar and called for the release of leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
China on Monday reacted guardedly to the militar y coup in neighbouring Myanmar ousting de-facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi and members of her governing party, calling on all to properly handle their differences under the constitutional and legal framework and uphold political stability in the countr y.
