Myanmar matters

Ref.: ‘Bloodless coup in Myanmar’ (February 4). Ever since Myanmar came into existence, the military has always ruled the country, so recent events are not surprising. But India needs to tread carefully, as it is an open secret that Myanmar's army leaders will have close relations with China and this will have serious ramifications for peace in the region. In a goodwill gesture, we have supplied 1.5 million Covid vaccines to Myanmar.

Let us hope democracy returns to this nation at the earliest, in the larger interests of the region.
