Gandhi forgotten, says Congress

In a series of tweets, the Congress on Thursday regretted that Mahatma Gandhi's ideals seem to have been forgotten and recalled its political heritage. "Today the love of power has overcome the power of love and Gandhiji's India is being destroyed," it tweeted, saying that "in the stor y of the 'Quit India Movement' lies a great lesson for Indians today: united, we can defeat tyranny.

Even as Delhi Police started removing nails from the roads at Delhi's entry points af ter a global criticism of preventing people come to the national capital, Congress tweeted on "the last nail in the coffin of British rule in India" in the year 1942.

"This is the story of the movement and the revolution which ultimately set the sun on the British empire," it said. In another tweet, the party declared: "We will not allow fascism & despotism to rule India – not today, not ever."
