Boiling fuel: Petrol, diesel prices hiked 30 paise/litre

Indian Oil Corp Ltd raised prices of petrol and diesel by 30 paise per ltr each in Delhi from Thursday's levels, according to informatio­n on the website of the country's largest fuel retailer.

In Delhi, the price of petrol is now at 86.95 rupees per ltr and that of diesel is 77.13 rupees a ltr.

The price of petrol in Mumbai is 93.49 rupees a ltr and that of diesel is at 83.99 rupees.

This is the eighth time that the state-owned company has raised prices of petrol and diesel by at least 25 paise a ltr each since the first hike on Jan 13.

The prices of petrol and diesel have been touching new highs amid rising global crude oil prices.

Prices of the two fuels vary across the country depending on state levies. Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd, the two other public sector fuel retailers, follow Indian Oil in the price revisions.

On Thursday, shares of Indian Oil ended 1.7% higher at 103.60 rupees on the National Stock Exchange.
