BJP GETS NOD FOR RATH YATRA
They are spreading canards to malign us, says Mamata
The West Bengal administration has given BJP the go-ahead to hold its proposed 'Rath Yatra' in Nadia’s Nabadwip on February 6. The first ‘Parivartan Rath Yatra’ will be inaugurated by BJP national president JP Nadda which will crisscross across several assembly constituencies in the state.
According to police sources, a detailed report has been sought from the BJP so that the administration can take adequate security measures during public rallies. BJP West Bengal observer Arvind Menon told Free Press Journa: “The TMC is aware of the reality in West Bengal. They know that they will not get back to power. With this Parivartan Yatra, the BJP will mark the change. Whenever such yatras are held, change is bound to come.”
Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to social media and said the West Bengal government didn’t cancel any Rath Yatra of the BJP and that the BJP is spreading canards to malign the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Incidentally, a PIL has been filed at Calcutta High Court against BJP's proposed five 'Rath yatras' in West Bengal touching all 294 assembly constituencies of the state. Petitioner Rama Prasad Sarkar, a lawyer by profession claimed that if such rallies are conducted crisscrossing the entire state then it would affect the law and order of the state and will also increase Covid -19 contamination across West Bengal. Defected BJP leader Arindam gets death threats
Newly defected BJP leader Arindam Bhattacharya received death threats as miscreants asked him to leave his Shantipur constituency under Nadia district immediately. In two different wall writings, one in Shantipur’s Bagdebi area and another in Bagachra, the BJP cadres on Friday morning saw the death threats for their leader.
“Leave Shantipur in the next 7 days or else you will be solely responsible for your murder,” read the wall writing in Bengali. Talking to Free Press Journal, the former TMC MLA said such threats are not new to him.
