Covid drug sales drop slows Indian pharma

The Indian pharmaceut­ical market saw a mode ration in growth in January as sales of COVID-19-related drugs slowed down due to the decline in cases.

Sales of drugs in India rose 4.5% on year in January to 126.8 bln rupees after a growth of 8.5% in December, data compiled by research company AIOCDAWACS showed.

Overall drug sales volume sin the Indian market fell 3% on year in January after being f lat in December.

Even as volumes fell, product prices and ne w launches were able to drive the sales higher on year, No mura Financial Advisory and Securities India said in a report.
