- FPJ NEWS SERVICE

The Covid tide seems to be turning. At least the data put out by the Union Ministry of Health on the progression of the pandemic suggests so.

Sample this: Seven states and UTs have reported no new COVID-19 deaths in the last three weeks; also 15 states have not registered any such fatality in the past 24 hours.

From the pandemic point of view, consistent gains are being made in terms of declining new cases and casualties and mounting rate of recoveries. This has ensured a sustained fall in active cases.

The seven states and UTs, which have reported no new COVID-19 deaths in last three weeks, are Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mizoram, Nagaland and Lakshadweep. India's average daily deaths also continue to sharply decline. From a high of 211 in the second week of January, average daily deaths have diminished to 96 in the second week of February, registering a decline of 55%. The country's fatality rate of 1.43% is also among the lowest in the world. The global average is 2.18% while that of the United States is 1.72%, Russia 1.03%, France 2.38%, Brazil 2.43%, UK 2.85% and Italy 3.46%.
