Time to introspect

Ref.: ‘Tragedy in Himalayas: Wrath of nature’ (February 9). These massive flash floods have left a trail of devastation and caused loss of life in Uttarakhand. It is a tragedy that construction workers and locals living close to these areas have either lost their lives, are injured or are missing. Both the NTPC and the Rishiganga hydel project have faced the wrath of these floods. It is high time the government introspects and assesses the viability of hydroelectric projects in such disaster-prone terrain.
