BJP-TMC SLUGFEST CONTINUES

- ARITRA SINGHA

The slugfest between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP continued in West Bengal as both the parties called each other ‘Gaddar’ (traitors).

Flagging off the second and the third phase of ‘Parivartan Yatra’ from Birbhum and Jhargram, BJP national president JP Nadda stated that the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee cheated and looted the people by giving false hopes.

“With our Parivartan Yatra, Bengal will witness true change. The chief minister didn’t keep her promises she made before coming to power. The TMC supremo feels a threat when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah visit West Bengal. Modi doesn’t come empty hand but always gives several beneficial schemes for Bengal, that the CM doesn’t implement,” mentioned Nadda.

Countering the claims of BJP national president, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a public rally in Behrampore of Murshidabad district said that the defectors to the saffron camp are ‘Gaddar’ and also that ahead of the election they (BJP) will leave no stones unturned to woo everyone by making false promises.

Left cadres clash with police

The central part of Kolkata turned into a battlefield as the Leftfront cadres tried to break the barricades done by Kolkata Police during the as the Leftfront cadres tried to enter Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) for seeking permission to hold rallies ahead of the assembly polls in West Bengal.

Talking to Free Press Journal, senior Leftfront leader and Politburo member Kamalika Ghosh Bose said that despite having permission the ruling Trinamool Congress is not allowing the CPI(M) and its allies to hold rallies in the state.

"The TMC is running total anarchy in the state. Even before the last parliamentary election the opposition's were not allowed to hold rallies. The TMC can't restrict us like this. The police force from the beginning is the pet of the ruling Trinamool Congress and doesn't cooperate with the opposition parties," slammed the Leftfront leader.

According to police officials the Leftfront didn't have any permission for the protest rally and also that just to resist the Leftfront cadres the police had placed barricades outside the KMC complex.
