After the historic cricket series win for India Down Under, a whopping 227-run defeat by England in the first cricket Test -- from exhilaration to exasperation. The unkindest cut of all was that the curator had ‘queered the pitch’ for the Indians, both idiomatically as well as literally, when the pitch showed its true colours on the 3rd day. James Anderson himself said,“the reverse swing was huge for us”. The ‘Root’ cause of the Indian debacle was Joe Root, as it was difficult for the Indian bowlers to up ’Root’ him. As far as Rishabh Pant is concerned, it is uncanny that he has got out in the 90s on several occasions. Be that as it may, with this victory, England now tops the World Test champions' table. On the other hand, India now needs to win at least two of the remaining Tests and draw one, to make the World Test Championship final. Here’s wishing India all the best.
