13 NAXALS SURRENDER IN DANTEWADA

Thirteen Maoists, three of whom carried acash rewards of Rs1 lakh each on their heads, have surrendered in Dantewada district, police said on Wednesday. The surrendered ultras who carried a bounty of Rs1 lakh each included Lakhma Midiyami, the Maoist Janmilita commander, Bheema alias Kamlu Karma, president of Maoist DKAMS (Dandakaranya Kisan Adivasi Majdur Sangh), a frontal organisation of CPI (Maoist) and Jogi Midiyami, a member of Maoist LGS. According to police, Mangal Ram Sodhi involved in the attack on the house of Congress leader Awdhesh Gautam at Nakulnar in 2010 has also surrendered under the Dantewada police’s special drive ‘Lon Vrratu’ ('homecoming' in local language) launched in June 2020. So far, 310 Maoists have surrendered in the district. They were provided with an immediate financial aid of Rs10,000 and will be rehabilitated in accordance with the policy of the state government.
