Exhaustive emergency plan needed
Ref.: ‘All out rescue efforts in Chamoli’ (February 10). Experts propound the theory of climate change for the glacier burst, whereas others assert it’s due to the existence of numerous bridges. No place on earth is entirely free from hazard and risk. Hence, all places need emergency preparedness, but few are likely to be subject to only one kind of hazard. An emergency plan must, therefore, be adaptable to both anticipated and unexpected hazards. The government shall therefore, have to adhere to natural hazard science.
