Centre clears empanelment of 29 IPS officers for DG-level posts
The Central govt on Thursday cleared the empanelment of 29 Indian Police Service officers to hold Director General level or equivalent posts across the countr y in different departments. These officers are from 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 batches. The empanelment of these officers for DG-level and equivalent posts is considered by a Selection Committee comprising of the Principal Secretar y to Prime Minister, the Cabinet Secretar y, the Home Secretar y, the Secretar y (Personnel) and the Director of Intelligence Bureau.
Two days af ter the Centre withdrew the notification of the draf t bylaws of National Monuments Authority (NMA) for Lord Jagannath Temple, Odisha govt on Thursday urged the ministry of culture to relax the proposed restrictions for Lingaraj and Brahmeswar Temples here. The Khurda district collector, who is also the president of Lord Lingaraj Temple Trust Board, urged that the notification be withdrawn immediately as the two temples are "living monuments" as the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri.
