QUAKE: PEOPLE RUN OUTDOORS

Earthquake tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir, in the national capital region and even parts of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab around 10.30 pm on Friday night, media reports said.

The epicentre of the quake is still to be determined but preliminar y input suggests that the tremors originated in Tajikistan. Reports are also emanating of ripples being felt in Pakistan. Videos and images sur facing on social media show people running out of their homes in Jammu, Srinagar and even Delhi-NCR, a report in India Today’s news portal said. Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to say, "Not since the earthquake of 2005 have the tremors in Srinagar been bad enough to force me out of the house. I grabbed a blanket & ran. I didn't remember to take my phone & so was unable to tweet "earthquake" while the damn ground was shaking."
