Petrol crosses Rs 88 in Delhi, diesel breaches Rs 85 in Mumbai

NEW D ELHI: P etrol and diesel prices soar ed to record highs on F riday after ra tes w ere hik ed f or the fourth day in a r ow.

Petrol price was increased b y 31 paise per litre and diesel b y 35 paise a litre, according to a price notification of sta te-owned fuel retailers.

This took petr ol pri ce to an all-time high of Rs 88.14 a litr e in Del hi and to Rs 94.64 in Mumbai.

Diesel ra tes r ose to Rs 78.38 per litr e in the national ca pital and to an all-time hig h of Rs 85.32 in Mumbai. In f our da ys, prices have gone up Rs 1.21 per f or petr ol, w hile diesel has risen by Rs 1.25 a litr e.

The go vernment is not considering a cut in excise duty to cool ra tes.
