Pondy LG orders floor test on Feb 22

Within hours of being sworn in as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on Thursday, Tamilisai Soundararajan (also Telangana Governor), directed the crisis-hit Congress Government to prove its majority on the floor of the Assembly on Februar y 22. Against a sanctioned strength of 33 – including three nominated members – the Puducherry Assembly’s strength stands at 28 following the resignation of two ministers and two Congress legislators and disqualification of another ruling party MLA. The Congress, is technically in a minority as of now, assuming there is no split in the ranks of the opposition until Februar y 22.
