Answer evident

Ref.: ‘Will electing a new party chief help arrest drift in Congress?’ (February 18). There is no doubt that a new party chief will come with fresh ideas and energy, much needed in the grand old party, but the bigger question is whether the Gandhi family trio is ready to pass on the baton to another. If lack of action on that long letter by the group of 23 leaders is any indication, then we know the answer -- that power is too strong a glue for the Gandhis to let go. If they are satisfied with winning some elections here and there and remain on the fringes, then absolutely no one can help them. Bal Govind
