Fuelling rage
Ref: 'Petrol 100.13, not out' (February 18). The BJP has been in power for the last six years and the Prime Minister is pointing fingers? Remember the KG basin scam and wastage? The base cost of petrol is Rs 30, Central and state taxes are Rs 33 and Rs 20 respectively. Why are the PM and CM not reducing the huge taxes on fuel? The per capita income of UK is $39,000 and of India, $1,877 or one could say, petrol price in the UK is Rs 123 while that in India is Rs 100. In terms of comparative purchasing power, Indian consumers pay five times more for petrol than the UK. And the reason? No, crude oil prices have not gone up.
