NMMC chief asks to reactivate doctors’ WhatsApp group

In view of the increasing number of COVID cases in the state including in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area, the municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar held a special meeting of all ward officers and medical officers and instructed them to remain vigilant in view of the changing situation. COVID infection is found in many members of the same family, and positive cases are on the rise among young children.
“In view of the present scenario, there is a need to pay attention on COVID cases and concrete efforts should be made to create awareness among the citizens for strict adherence to COVID safety rules,” said Bangar during the review of COVID situation held this week.
Bangar directed that at least 20 persons who came in close contact with COVID infected people must be traced and to be tested. He also asked to reactivate the WhatsApp group of private doctors for an intensive monitoring of people having symptoms.
The ward officials have been directed to ensure that the number of persons present at the wedding halls as well as banquet halls is strictly follow the rules and regulations. The commissioner clarified that those violating the rules in this regard should be penalised and also the management of the hall should be punished. “With the introduction of the COVID 19 vaccine, most of the citizens is not wearing masks thinking that the preventive vaccine has been introduced. Now, we will take more effective punitive action against the negligent citizens who are seen violating the Covid safety rules,” said Bangar.
