SC notice on Omar divorce case stuck in Delhi HC

Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah has knocked at the doors of the Supreme Court for an early divorce with his wife Payal, sister of Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot, af ter her lawyer refused the virtual hearing in Delhi High Court. A Bench of Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian on Thursday issued a notice to the Registrar General of the High Court, fixing the next hearing on April 5.

Abdullah has challenged the HC circular issued in April last year that requires consent of both sides for hearing of a case through the video-conferencing. His plea is that his matrimonial appeal filed in Februar y 2017 against the trial court is 2016 order is still not listed by the High Court for hearing.
