Man injured in CISF firing at Gevra mines

Aman was injured when a team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) fired upon him at Korba’s Gevra mines, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday night. Additional SP of Korba Kirtan Rathore informed that the CISF team detected suspected activities and found an SUV and a truck without number plates going into the mining area. When they instructed the truck to stop, it started speeding away. The CISF team then chased the vehicle, but another truck came from behind and hit the CISF vehicle.

In defence, CISF sub-inspector Uday Kumar first fired in air. But the CISF team was attacked with rods. The sub-inspector and the CISF constable Ankit Raj opened fire on the attackers which injured one of the assailants, later identified as Salik Ram Gond (32), the ASP said. The assailants escaped from the spot. Gond was admitted to Apollo Hospital Bilaspur for treatment and his condition was stable.

Andaman absconder arrested

A 48- year-old accused of breach of trust, who escaped from the custody of Andaman & Nicobar Police, was arrested by Raipur police on Saturday.

The accused earlier managed to give a slip to Andman and Nicobar police in a Raipur-based guest house and escaped a few days ago.

Raipur Senior SP Ajay Kumar Yadav said the accused, identified as Ram Kumar Sahu, who managed to flee from the guest house on Tuesday, has been arrested on Saturday.
