Say ‘Joy Bangla’, not 'Hello': CM

Evoking Bengali sentiments, CMMamata Banerjee on Sunday urged everyone to say ‘Joy Bangla’ instead of ‘Hello’ over the telephone. Addressing a public meeting on International Mother Language Day, Mamata Banerjee slams the BJP-led Central government for not allowing her to change the name of the state from West Bengal to ‘Bangla’. “Some outsiders are tr ying to break the social fabric of Bengal. They can’t even pronounce Bengal properly. Four years back, I tried to change the name of Bengal to Bangla. The Centre still didn’t give us the permission to do so. I urge ever yone to say 'Joy Bangla' instead of 'Hello' while answering a telephone call,” mentioned the CM.
