Bengal needs a change: PM

Alleges syndicate rule and cut money politics of the ruling TMC govt destroyed the culture of the state

-

PM Modi on Monday said the BJP will bring ‘Ashol Poriborton’ (real change) in West Bengal to restore the lost glory of the state. Addressing a rally at Dunlop ground in Hooghly district, Modi said the entire country used to respect Kolkata as it was a happening place and accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of destroying the glory of West Bengal.

“The syndicate rule and cut money politics of the Trinamool Congress government destroyed the culture of West Bengal. BJP is needed not just to form a government but to restore the lost glory. Kolkata and its adjoining areas were once industrial hubs but currently, the people of West Bengal have to go to other states in search of jobs,” claimed the PM. Slamming the TMC, Modi stated that the BJP-led central government had allotted Rs1,700 crore to Mamata Banerjee government to set up water pipeline project and alleged the West Bengal government didn’t complete the project as desired.

“The TMC government had deprived ‘Bengal ki Beti’ (daughter of West Bengal). Out of 1.5-2 crore households, only 9 lakh families got the pipeline water. If the government works like this then many more years is needed to uplift the status of the poor people in West Bengal,” added Modi.

TMC, BJP CLAIM CREDIT

Soon after PM Modi inaugurated the metro service of Dakshineswar virtually and gave BJP-led Centre the credit of taking this initiative, TMC leaders took to social media, claiming the project was initiated by CM Mamata Banerjee in 2011 when she was the Union Railway Minister. Notably, after 10 years from its commission, the PM has flagged off the metro service from Dakshineswar. “With this metro service, people can now travel to Kalighat temple from Dakshineswar in just 40 minutes. With more railway projects, BJP govt is striving hard to uplift the infrastructure in Bengal. If voted to power, the BJP will work hard to develop West Bengal,” said Modi.

Notably, as the election is nearing in the poll-bound West Bengal, not just PM Modi but most of the central leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda, have been camping in Bengal.
