Rujira’s replies are not satisfactory: CBI

- ARITRA SINHGA /

The CBI officials after quizzing Rujira Naroola, wife of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, said that they are not satisfied with her reply. The CBI said it is now going to send letters to the banks in Thailand and London.

The CBI officials on Tuesday reached Rujira’s residence post 11:30 am. They quizzed her for nearly one and a half hour before leaving the premises.

“Rujira ignored most of the questions stating that she wasn’t aware of the developments. We have done a video recording of the entire session and will now match it ith her sister Menka Gambhir’s statements. We will also send letters to the banks in Thailand and London,” said the CBI sources.

Menka Gambhir was questioned more than three hours on February 22 at her residence on EM Bypass.

Meanwhile, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee visited nephew Abhishek and his wife at their residence 10 minutes before the CBI officials arrived. The state BJP spokesperson slammed the Chief Minister for "intervening" in the CBI probe.

According to sources, the CM was there to take away Abhishek’s daughter before the CBI starts interrogating her mother. Notably, on February 21 morning, a CBI team visited TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s residence and summoned Abhishek’s wife Rujira Narula and his sister-in-law Menaka Gambhir over alleged connection in the coal scam.

CBI officials said some misappropriations and a huge transfer of foreign currency have been found in two bank accounts of Abhishek’s wife, one in London and the other one in Thailand.
