Making fools of us
The destabilising of the democratically elected government in Puducherry has been staged perfectly. Overthrowing an elected government by engineering defections is a terrible precedent in a democratic set-up. It runs contrary to what democracy stands for. The anti-defection law in its present form in our country holds no terrors for the political class. It amounts to fooling the people of the nation. Such overthrowing of elected governments has become common, of late. Hope the apex court is taking cognisance.
