Pohradevi temple’s Sant Sewalal Trust chief & 18 others test +ve

Nineteen people, including the head of Sant Sewalal Trust Kabirdas Maharaj from Pohradevi temple in Washim district, have tested positive for COVID-19. This comes two days after there was a massive show of strength at Pohradevi temple for Shiv Sena Minister Sanjay Rathod, who has been targeted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in connection with the mysterious death of a Tik Tok star Pooja Chavan. Taking a serious note of crowding, Chief Minister Uddahv Thackeray had announced an inquiry by the district administration.

Kabirdas Maharaj was present during the visit by Rathod with his supporters. More than 10,000 people were present when the Shiv Sena minister after 10 days appeared before the people and the media in the temple premises. Maharaj had undergone a COVID-19 test on February 21. The Washi district administration is now on alert as there is a possibility of the spread of the virus from those who had gathered at the temple on Tuesday.

Rathod, who in the presence of a large number of his supporters, visited the Pohradevi temple and later told the press that dirty politics was being played after the woman’s unfortunate death. In a related development, a total of 229 students of a public school hostel in the Washim district tested positive for the virus, an official said on Thursday. Four school staffers have also tested positive, the official said, adding that the area has been declared a containment zone.
