Missing the wood

Ref.: ‘Publish tree census, issue detailed notices: Activist tells TMC's tree department’ (February 26). The environmental activist has rightly taken up the issue of tree census in Thane district. Should we be given to understand that Thane is today ‘flooded’ with so many trees that the TMC is unable to count them? We need to get real. Forget counting, we should be planting more trees. Such a lacklustre attitude on the part of the authorities and the general public could only spell environmental disaster. The sooner we all wake up, the better will it be.
