New Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte has tête-à-tête with NCP president
Newly appointed Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, on Monday, met Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar at the latter ’s residence and discussed various issues. Kunte, a 1985 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer, on Sunday took over as the Chief Secretary from incumbent Sanjay Kumar who retired yesterday.
Af ter the meeting, Pawar in a tweet said, "Sitaram Kunte, the newly appointed Chief Secretary of the Government of Maharashtra visited me today. We discussed various issues pertaining to Maharashtra, especially pertaining to COVID19 and the vaccination program." "I wished him well for a successful tenure," added Pawar, whose party is an ally of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi in the state.
Meanwhile, Kunte, who was welcomed by Deputy Secretary Uday Chaudhary in the presence of former CS Sanjay Kumar, said he would focus on the successful implementation of the COVID-19 containment measures and expedite the vaccination drive across the state. Other priorities include revival of the state economy affected by the pandemic and the completion of the government’s ambitious projects in a time-bound manner. Kunte urged people to follow the COVID-19 norms and cooperate with the state government to curb the spread of the virus.
