Poll petitions against Jaishankar deferred
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned, without hearing, the election petitions challenging the election of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat in 2019 as a letter was circulated seeking the adjournment. The tentative date fixed before a Bench headed by Chief Justice of India is April 6. The petitioners include Congress leaders Gaurav Pandya,
Parashkumar Dhanani and Chandrikaben Chudasma. They have come to the SC af ter dismissal of their pleas against the election of Jaishankar and Jugalji Thakore of BJP. their plea is against the Election Commission issuing separate notifications for holding the bypolls for casual and regular vacancies in the Rajya Sabha because of which the BJP having a majority in the Gujarat Assembly.
