- – AVDHESH MALLICK

There was pandemonium in Chhattisgarh Assembly on Tuesday over the death of surrendered woman naxal Kawasi Pandey when the Opposition members moved an adjournment motion in the zero hour. The Opposition alleged that the naxal had committed suicide in police custody. They asked for a 30-minute discussion on the death that occurred in Dantewada district but it was rejected by the Chair stating that it is under consideration of the Speaker. The Opposition then created ruckus and the House was adjourned for five minutes. Ajay Chandrakar, BJP MLA, said his party leaders had moved the motion. He pointed out that in Gudsa village, a tribal woman af ter being branded as naxalite, was forcefully made to surrender by police. But she died under suspicious conditions in police custody, and this is being covered up, alleged Chandrakar.
