BJP flies to Delhi to finalise candidates’ list; TMC to hold second meet

With the first phase of Assembly polls scheduled this month, the nomination of the candidates for the first phase is scheduled on March 9. Ahead of finalising the candidate's list, the TMC and the BJP seem to be very busy as the saffron camp is busy traveling to Delhi while the TMC has scheduled a closeddoor meeting with all the district presidents of the party.

After holding two days of closed-door meetings, the saffron camp on Wednesday evening flew to the national capital to submit the probable names of the candidates to the central leaders before announcing the final list.

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said that the state counterpar­t have decided on three-five candidates for each constituen­cy and after holding a meeting with central leaders the names will be declared on March 5.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will file her nomination from the Nandigram constituen­cy on March 11.

According to TMC sources, the ruling Trinamool Congress had called for an urgent meeting ahead of declaring the candidate list with all senior leaders and district presidents at Trinamool Bhawan on March 4.

BJP to complain against TMC minister Hakim

A day after TMC Minister Firhad Hakim went to state election commission to complain against the saffron camp, the BJP also plans to complaint against Hakim for breaking election protocol.

According to West Bengal BJP spokespers­on Shamik Bhattachar­ya, Kolkata Municipal Corporatio­n Mayor Hakim spent more than two hours at SDO office in Haldia breaking the model code of conduct of the election.

BJP ahead of TMC in Assembly polls: Sisir Adhikari

In the political scenario in West Bengal lots of speculatio­ns were made that the senior TMC leader and Kanthi MP Sisir Adhikari will soon defect to the saffron camp. No sooner did his son Suvendu Adhikari defected to the saffron camp, not just the leaders of the BJP welcomed him but leaders of other political parties were of the view that Sisir’s defection to the BJP is ‘just a matter of time’.
