Minor held in Aligarh Dalit girl murder

LUCKNOW: The Aligarh police on Wednesday cracked the murder mystery of a Dalit girl, 14, whose naked body was found in a field on Feb 28, by arresting a 17-year-old boy. SSP Aligarh Muniraj said they arrested a boy who had been keeping an eye on the girl for some time. “On the day of the crime, he was watching porn on his cellphone when the girl came to the field to collect fodder. On seeing her alone, he caught hold of her and tried to rape her. When she resisted and started cried out for help, he strangled her with her dupatta and fled,” the SSP told a hurriedly-called press meet. She girl was living with her maternal grandmother in Jayaganj village.
