Guv accepts Forest Minister Sanjay Rathod’s resignation
Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari, on Thursday, accepted Forest Minister Sanjay Rathod’s resignation. Even though Rathod, who was allegedly linked with the suicide of a 23-yearold woman, had submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday, it was forwarded to Raj Bhavan on Thursday afternoon. Raj Bhavan, in a release, said the Governor received Rathod’s resignation this afternoon and it has been accepted. Further, the Governor has accepted CM’s request to hold the Forest Department with him.
Thackeray, on Sunday, had announced that he had accepted Rathod’s resignation, as it was not given to keep it in a frame. However, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raised the issue in the state legislature on Wednesday on why the CM had not yet forwarded Rathod’s resignation to the Governor. Thackeray today forwarded it and, thereby, had rejected Rathod’s request to keep his resignation with him and not forward it to the Governor till the inquiry into the death of the 23-yearold Tik Tok star is completed. -
