Murbad BJP corporator held in molestation case, says HM

THANE: BJP Corporator Nitin Telawane from Murbad in Thane district has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman corporator. The information was disclosed by state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in a press conference. The minister was speaking in the Legislative Council. Telawane had allegedly committed the crime on Wednesday at around 12:40am, following which a police case had been registered against him. Murbad Police has arrested Telawane under sections 452, 354, 354 (A) and 506 of the Indian Penal code. Further investigation is underway.

"Corporator Nitin Telavane from Murbad tried to molest a woman corporator af ter barging into her house around 12.40 am (last night)," the minister said. "Telavane, who is from the BJP, has been arrested," the minister added. On Wednesday, the opposition had tried to corner the government over an alleged incident in Jalgaon where girls at a hostel were `stripped and forced to dance' by policemen. But Deshmukh stated, on Thursday, that there was no truth to the allegations. -
