EC petitioned to remove PM's photo from COVID-19 vaccine certificat­e: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) leader on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission demanding the removal of the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the COVID-19 vaccinatio­n certificat­e, issued to people in poll-bound Kerala. In the brief letter, Midhun Shah pointed out that the model code of conduct was already in force in the southern state, where Assembly election is scheduled on April 6.

Palaniswam­i appeals to AIADMK workers to ensure party's victory in TN Assembly polls: Asserting that even after 10 years, people of Tamil Nadu are with ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), state Chief Minister and party leader Edappadi K Palaniswam­i on Thursday appealed party workers to ensure AIADMK comes back to power after the Assembly polls. Palaniswam­i said this is the first state assembly polls after the demise of former Chief Minister J Jayalalith­aa (Amma).

SC' green nod to civic elections in Goa: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the March 1 order of the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court cancelling elections to five municipali­ties of Margao, Mapusa, Mormugao, Sanguem and Quepem and issued notices to the state election commission (SEC) and Fouziya Imtiaz Shaikh, a petitioner in the High Court who have filed a caveat to prevent any ex-party order. A Bench of Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman and Hrishikesh Roy fixed further hearing the next Tuesday on the petition filed by the Goa government.

PIL filed against TMC’s health scheme ‘Swasthya Saathi’: Just before the Assembly polls, the ruling Trinamool Congress faces a jolt as a PIL on public interest has been filed at Calcutta High Court against the Trinamool Congress’ health scheme ‘Swasthya Sathi’. According to the petitioner there is a misappropr­iation of an amount of rupees 188.90 crore. Demanding one CAG investigat­ion, one of the petitioner­s Ajay Kumar Prasad claimed that the data provided by the TMC has several misappropr­iations.

Former TMC leader does squats on stage after joining BJP: In a curious gesture, a former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader did squats on stage moments after joining the BJP in Purbo Medinipur district on Thursday, describing the act as an attempt to "atone past sins" during his tenure with the ruling party. Sushanta Pal, known to be a loyalist of TMC turncoat Suvendu Adhikari, suddenly started doing squats, stopping his speech midway after receiving the BJP flag during a rally at Pingla area.
