VCK to contest for 6 seats in alliance with DMK in TN

The Viduthalai Chiruthaig­al Katchi (VCK) party on Thursday decided to contest for six seats of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly polls in an alliance with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

As per an official press note, "Viduthalai Chiruthaig­al Katchi party Chief Thirumaval­avan has signed a memorandum with the DMK for the upcoming Assembly elections and will contest in six constituen­cies in Tamil Nadu." (translated from Tamil) Tamil Nadu assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 6 and the counting of votes will be done on May 2.

The Lucknow Police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on former BSP MP and mafia don Dhananjay Singh who is on the run af ter an FIR was lodged against him in connection with the murder of Ajit Singh, former Block Pramukh from Azamgarh and a historyshe­eter.

The Lucknow Police Commission­er DK Thakur said that a reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced on Dhananjay Singh for his arrest.

Police teams have been dispatched to Delhi, Hyderabad and his hometown Jaunpur but they all returned empty hands. Several raids were conducted in Lucknow and Jaunpur to arrest Dhananjay but so far police have got no success. During interrogat­ion, Dhananjay shooter Girdhari, who was gunned down in an encounter, had named Dhananjay who had hired shooters to eliminate his rival Ajit Singh.
