India to boost ties with Bangladesh

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday met his Bangladesh­i counterpar­t A K Abdul Momen and held widerangin­g discussion­s on ways to take forward the bilateral relations. As part of India's "Neighbourh­ood First" policy, Jaishankar arrived here on a day-long visit to prepare the ground for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Bangladesh. Foreign Minister Momen received Jaishankar at the Kurmitola air force base. Jaishankar, who is visiting the country at the invitation of Momen, is also expected to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Momen and Jaishankar led their respective sides at a bilateral meeting and took stock of the progress of relations between the two countries.

LUCKNOW: The UP Special Task Force (STF) gunned down two supari killers in an encounter in Prayagraj district on Thursday. One of them was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000. They were planning to shoot a politician in the district. The killed shooters have been identified as Vakil Pandey alias Raju Pandey and Amzad alias Pintu. Both were residents of Bhadohi district. Vakil Pandey was carr ying a reward of RS 50,000. Over a dozen cases of heinous crime, including murder, were pending against them.
