Appointment of interim CBI director challenged
NEW DELHI: NGO Common Cause on Thursday moved the Supreme Court, through activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan for an urgent direction to the Centre to complete the process of selection of the CBI director, challenging appointment of an interim director of the agency by the government bypassing the Delhi Special Police
Establishment Act under which the CBI functions.
In its petition yet to be listed, the NGO says the unwillingness of the government to institute a transparent and accountable system impairs the right of the people since the CBI is currently probing cases involving rampant corruption in high places in the country.
